Hello to the group. We are trying to slide over to BC from Alberta and build our straw bale home there. We are currently on a small 20 acre parcel north of Calgary and have land in Southern BC with a straw bale shop built but only partially plastered on the outside. We have plans for a straw bale house but can't get underway until we sell our place here.

We are using the shop to test things out. We are using clay plaster on the outside and inside and also plan to do a earthen floor. The shop is very small (12 x 16) but is a great way to get our hands dirty and learn about the techniques.

I took a strawbale week long course in Kimberley and 2 plaster and earthen floor workshops in New Denver, both invaluable before taking the plunge, but that being said, you really learn when you start doing.

I'd like to hear other stories of people starting out or already there in western Canada.
